Sentenza for iOS - Developers blog

All started a year ago in July 2009, in Paris, France.  It was a small personal project that was not intended to be published publicly.  It was a simple non-graphical tool for testing some user interfaces designs on an iPhone or iPod Touch.  We were two to use this tool, and we quickly found that such enthusiasm product could create.  At this point, Sentenza was born.

Apple chosen to not decline his tool XCode on PC Microsoft Windows, which sets aside a large part of developers. If you want to create an iPhone application, in addition to having to change hardware, you were absolutely to learn a new language : Objective-C. These two constraints do are not negligible, but also crippling for some. What universal language could be strong enough to allow interactive content management smooth and efficient on mobile ? The answer is simple and existed since several years, but was recently confirmed with the new HTML5/CSS3. In fact, quality and modernity of the latter version of this popular web language has standardized many functions formerly available through JavaScript. Moreover, many projects of JavaScript libraries viewed the day, as jQuery, jQTouch, Sencha Touch, PhoneGap, etc, thus further easy creation of web applications thanks to the possibility of using some API for mobile devices. And that is exactly what is Sentenza. The advantage of language HTML5/CSS3/JS is the opportunity to comes in a web application to a mobile application, simply using an optimized CSS file.  If the web developer provides, an online web application can be easily transformed into a web application offline. The primary objective of Sentenza was therefore to provide an opportunity for Windows users to create an iPhone application from an HTML content. It was easy to say, least to create…

So the first public version of Sentenza is underway ! After a long time for preparation and development, the product is finally born. I have tried to take a price as reasonable as possible, to ensure a fast and efficient users support. This first version released under the number 1.1, been tested by over 500 people in five days. This is a first success. Unfortunately, this first version was still missing features and had some bugs. All this will be quickly corrected in version 1.2 and then 1.3. The popularity is growing. With the release of iPad, iOS4 and iPhone 4, and with his impressive capabilities, a new version should be given to cover these new devices. It’s in July 2010 as version 1.4 begins its development, and released in September 2010, with a full source-code review. This latest version is more stable, more complete and thus the most downloaded ! Over 1000 downloads per month are recorded.

In November 2010, the project Sentenza is joined by new developers, Benoit Champliaud and his team, as well an experience marketing agency OXO Communication in Paris (specialist PME/PMI). This new collaboration should lead to a new release full of news… In fact, we now would like extend to other mobile systems, like Android or Windows Phone. This next version should also give to user a choice from application for jailbroken devices or non-jailbroken devices. We would like the possibility to sign their applications with its own certificates, and deploy an application on three different platforms, from the same code. We also reflect a forum and a platform to linking between users, developers, etc…

Provided many news, some will be surprises for you. Much work for us but we love it, and we’d really win this bet you can creating solid applications with this language so versatile and allow you, through Sentenza, to be present on all the production line and deployment.
